I came across your correspondence regarding an interface card to the PDP8
Omnibus.
Did anything come of this and if so, are there any cards left?

I now have a "new to me" SBC6120 from Ulrich up and running using an
"old"
Qume terminal with VT102 emulation. Do you think it would be of interest to
the folks at DEC legacy or does every one have one? I will take it to the
next Manchester Vintage Club meet at the end of the month.
What does one call an SBC6120 btw. The Harris CPU is I guess "Vintage" as it
seems to date from pre- 1990 but the board is modern, its not a "clone" as
such is it? Or a replica or reproduction?

I am pretty sure the SBC6120 would be of interest at DEC Legacy. There are
people who bring "real" PDP8s as well, but not everyone can have one of
those, so an SBC6120 is certainly going to interest people. I would like to
see it at the next Manchester meeting.
How easy is it to get an SBC6120?

How easy is it to get an SBC6120?
Not really sure. I am beginning to think this lark is a bit like fishing.
You sprinkle a few bids on E-Bay, post wanted requests on mail lists, visit
a few Ham Fests, mention your hobby on air etc. More often than not the fish
gets away, or you hook an old boot or supermarket trolly, but sometimes if
you keep fishing you get a pair of boots. If you persevere sometimes you get
a nice fish, but sometimes it is too big for the boat and sometimes you
throw it back only to realize later it was what you really wanted....

The SBC6120 was produced by Spare Time Gizmos and he sold all his kits
however all the documentation and code is available on his site.

The SBC6120 was produced by Spare Time Gizmos and he sold all his kits
however all
the documentation and code is available on his site.
However the Gerber files are not the latest and there are known errors in
the boards they would produce so you can't easily reproduce the system as
sold, even if you could source all the components. Some folks have wire
wrapped a board but that seems a thankless task. The last set of boards were
not even sold outside the USA, and like me Paul is in the UK. Mine came from
Switzerland which was a worry but I don't have a front panel ....
I think rather than try and reproduce the system as designed I would make a
larger board and perhaps include the VT100 stuff from the IOB6120 io
expansion card and/or the front panel from the FP6120 front panel card.
However the IOB6120 has an FPGA you have an FPGA then why use the HD6120...
Just build the entire PDP-8 on a NEXYS-3 board....

That's an interesting question. For VCFSE 1.0, one
of my displays was sort of a poster session on what,
for lack of a better term, I called neoclassicism. It
included a taxonomy with several types of modern
projects related to vintage computing: simulators,
replicas, reproductions, recreations, neoclassic
designs, and augmentation. At least in that taxonomy,
the SBC6120 probably best fits the neoclassic
design category.
Of course, that's just one taxonomy, and I certainly
don't suggest it's the definitive one.

here are the definitions that I suggested for these
categories:
Simulators: Software running on general purpose
systems that mimics the behavior of classic machines.
Replicas: Copies of specific machines built to the
original designs.
Reproductions: New construction of classic models

with modifications making modern production more
practical.
Recreations: Functional equivalents of classic deisgns
using modern components.
Neoclassic Designs: New designs using classic techniques
and components.
Augmentation: New designs that interface to classic
