However, I'd think that exploring a well documented design with a
logic analyzer would be fairly productive. Its one thing to look at
schematics and "theory of operation" paragraphs; its another thing to
look at the signals evolve over time. Particularly when the hardware
is spread out over many schematics with connecting signal identifiers
between sheets.
