Sorry about duplicating info about your excellent site; digest mode dontcha
know...
Just wanted to add that the later Dynatem AIM65 versions had a pair of
jumpers for each ROM to select 2532/2732.
As Ethan said, it's a trivial mod to use 2732s but Jim Brain does sell
adapters; as a side note, I've used one of his adapters to combine all four
language ROMs into one chip, selectable with a DIP switch (with the low mem
part of Pascal loded into expanded RAM).

Rich Cini has a pretty complete set of documentation and images on his
most excellent site:
http://www.classiccmp.org/cini/systems.htm
-Standard ROMS
-Assembler
-BASIC
-FORTH
-PL/65
-Pascal (note that Pascal requires RAM or ROM at $4000-$7FFF)
I'm trying to figure out how to access an rx33 floppy disk on a pdp11/83 without going through the disklabel process.
It would be nice if I could write a tar archive to a floppy with my Linux system, and extract it on the 11/83. Unfortunately, since the rx33 looks like any other MSCP disk to unix, it doesn't seem to want to access the floppy unless a disklabel (and file system) is present.
I'm sure there must be some way to get actual raw access to the floppy drive under 2.11bsd, but I can't seem to figure it out, and I've spent some time looking through the ra device driver source. Frustration levels are high -:)
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
The time has come up once again for me to cross the country, New York
to California and back, and points in between, during the April and
May timeframe.
As usual, I am looking for opportunities to fund the trip by hauling
equipment for people. I already have some deals in the works, but
could probably use some more (especially in the return leg of the
journey). Prices for my services are very reasonable, and I know how
to handle classic computers in a nice safe manner, unlike many general
freight shippers.
So, please think about this and send me a note off list with any sorts
of potential pickups and deliveries, and I will see if and how they
can be worked into the plan.
There is also a very good chance I will be making a trip or two to
Chicago (from New York), and would have space going West. This might
happen as soon as the snow clears up, before the big trip.

Hello!
I need a HDD sled [ I have the HDD already] for Loviatar [http://olatheskunk.pl/computers/Loviatar.html].
For those, who doesn't want to click: Loviatar is how I call my IntelliStation POWER 275. I got it for free last year, just had to transport it across country.
If anyone has unnecessary sled that is compatible with it' I'd like to get it.
[Of course unless this will cost $5000 ;) ]

Not a single bid at one penny on eBay, so does anyone want to save a
few of these from the bin? I have a box of about 25 TK-50s here,
mostly 3M brand ones. No idea of working condition.
Happy to send anywhere in the world for the cost of postage. I have
hundreds of jiffy bags (padded envelopes) so not even asking for a
donation for packaging - just post at cost.
Happy to send via surface post to keep costs down - it's generally
about 2/3 the price of airmail.
They're in London, UK and you can of course collect for free.
Last time I mentioned these I had several requests but nobody's reappeared...

Just a reminder -- the money collection phase of the group buy ends
at the end of the month. On Tuesday, I plan to place the board and
component orders based on whatever I've received by then.
We have 42 paid units for the group buy so far, an excellent response!
There are still three folks who expressed interest, but have not paid.
If you want one of these, now is the time! Here are the details again, in
case you need them:
The 32K RAM kit is for an Omnibus card that should work in the PDP-8/e, 8/f,
8/m, and 8/a:
- Complete kit, including battery, PCB and parts. Soldering required.
Includes IC sockets for the RAM kit, but not for the prototype area.
- The amount is $95, including shipping. If you are outside the USA,
please add $20 for shipping.
- Please make Paypal payment to this email address. It will show my
wife's name, Hildebrand. (My initials are vrs, and that email is just
my initials at msn.com.)
- Ordering for this project will close March 31, 2014.
- The kits are expected to ship by May 8th. (Long PCB turn time is used to
keep the price down.)
- Please allow up to 10-days for delivery.
Some features of the kit:
- Battery backup with long life.
- Inhibit on power fail to prevent memory corruption.
- Easy to build, with all through-hole parts.
- Provides full 32K memory in a single card slot.
- Cooperation with any mix of core memory or ROM boards.
- Compatibility with the Omnibus.
- Most of the full Omnibus board area is laid out for prototyping.
- High quality board with gold fingers, plated holes, silk screen and
solder-mask.
You can read Steve's article about the prototype here:
http://www.tronola.com/html/ram_for_pdp-8e.html
Thanks,
Vince
PS I tried to send this yesterday, but it seems to have never arrived.
Apologies if that version (or this one) appears after the end of
the month.
Through a random eBay purchase, I found a nice little collection of
stuff in San Jose, CA near 880/101. The owner's name is Tom Thinh,
and he's got a 10'x20' (-ish) unit packed with stuff he's trying to
sell. He says he's been collecting the stuff for years. He seems
friendly and reasonable to haggle with as a businessman. I asked him
if it would be OK to pass along his information to the list, he was
happy for me to do so.
While I was there picking up an AT&T Unix PC, I saw the following:
- Another AT&T Unix PC.
- Some AT&T 3B2's.
- A stack of pizza-box VAXen of various types.
- MicroVAX I or II in a BA-123 chassis (couldn't see the badge).
- A Symbolics 3610 [NB: I saw a keyboard, but didn't see the Symbolics
console anywhere, but he says he thinks he has it in there...
somewhere]
- A BeBox.
- A small army of NeXTstation - both color and mono,
lots of monitors and keyboards and sound boxes. Also
a couple of printers in original boxes.
- Amigas (at least one 2000 and a 4000 with video toaster).
- VT100 terminal.
- Several Data General 9-track tapes (what looked like
an A/OS distribution? DG is not my strong suit).
Lots more. That's just what I remember. There were also random PC
things and parts and manuals and so forth.
Anyway, if you're interested, you can contact Tom directly (not me!),
voice or text, at 1-408-874-6471
