Hello, I did notice from a message you had the tech manual for the HP
150/150II , I have a memory fault on my 150II , ie..... memory fault
At least one memeory of this mainling list does, me :-)
1201 is this something you can help with ,
or perhaps look up what 1201 means? many thanks Paul
Unfortuantyely, that is not i nthe TechRef. You want the service manaul
for that. The TechRef contains the full schematics, system calls, etc.
The Service manaul tells you how to interpret the diagnostics, swap
boards and the like.
Personally, I would want both. The service manual to tell me where to
look for the problem and the TechRef to actually find it. Unfortunately I
don't have the service manual.
But I think that 1xyy errors are DRAM failures. x gives the bank, yy
indicates which bits failed (it's an 8 bit bus, rememebr, 8088 CPU). If I
am right, that's a problem with bit 0 of bank 2. which is U914 (a 4164
DRAM chip on the mainboard in front of the expansion slots).
The HP150-II is painful to take apart, though, The RAMs are not socketed
IIRC so the CPU board has to come oput to solder in a new one. That means
dismantlign the metalwork, taking off the power switch button, brightness
knob and the plasic skins, and then eitehr removing the PSU/montioor
board or at least loosening it soe that it cvan be unplugged fro the CPU
board. The latter is easier, it avoids havign to disconent the CRT base
and anode cap.
