I seem to recall having a conversation on the list not too long ago
about the difficulty of converting NeXT mono video to VGA.
At first I had thought this might need something as sophisticated as
digital conversion, but somebody said it was only an electrical matter.
What's the deal? What needs to be done - anyone know?
I have a Cube with the fading type of NeXT monitor, you see...

Mono to VGA is extremely easy, email me for a pin-out. Just need some
DB19 ports/hoods (easy to acquire), donor VGA cable, Cat5 (or other 8
conductor wire) and a 75ohm resistor.

Actually, while they fit the general plan of D-sub connectors, they are
not DB size shells, nor indeed any of the standard sizes DA through DE
(or DE through DD if you prefer to order by size rather than name),
being intermediate in size between DA and DB - two pin-spacings longer
than DA(15) but three shorter than DB(25).
If anyone has trouble finding such connectors, I have some spare video
cables, which could be cut in two. They're fairly short (maybe a foot
or two long), and I will not have access to them for a month or two,
but after that I should be able to send them out (well, unless I get
flooded with requests or some such, which I really don't expect).

taxonomically, they can usually be found by Googling for "DB19".
