For instance the 733 is the same base model terminal unit with the dual cassette drives added on top for "automatic send/receive". The 725 is the terminal guts mounted in a suitcase type enclosure with an acoustic coupler. The 720 is the terminal guts mounted in an enclosure similar to the 733 but with an RS-232 interface. Really, I don't think the different "models" are radically different in terms of the terminal guts, just what extra goodies are arranged around it and how it is packaged in an enclosure. I found it somewhere on the web and then moved it into my own archive here. I have kept my first 725 running since 1975 when I first acquired it as a kid. At one point in the early 80's, it needed a new printhead and I was able to obtain one as they were still selling parts at that time. Fixed 'er right up (thanks to Dad's credit card). A few years ago, I fired it up again and a driver transistor had failed, preventing paper advance. It seems all of my problems with these units are related to paper advance :-) I buy thermal FAX paper at OfficeMax or equiv and although the rolls are smaller diameter, it's the same paper and works fine in these units. The 725 I recently acquired is in excellent cosmetic condition and does print nicely (all on one line ;-) ) so if I can fix the disappeared belt, I'll have another nice unit for the collection. It does not have external RS232 breakout and only offers the acoustic coupler for I/O so I will use it with my dialup modem simulator to "dial in" to various legacy systems. Chris -- Chris Elmquist
