The modem came with a free trial
userid/password(you know, the form was
710555,1234 and default passwords like "wolf!desk") for Compuserve which was
nice to have something to dial as soon I got it home. ?My parents threatened
me if I "racked up any bills with that thing", I would be in trouble.
My first modem was a VicModem, to go with my Vic 20. It came with
that same packet. ID 73347,2556 - initial password was "boat%touch."
Same threat from the parents, unheeded ;)
If your experience was anything like mine, the locking clip on the RJ11(?)
connector on the handset cord lasted about three days. :) (and I just
recently picked up a VIC 1600 to go with the replacement VIC-20 I got last
year. :D)

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical
minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which
holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd
by the clean end.
