The "new old stock" price of an item has no relation to the collector
or hobbyist, it is a price to get a factory machine going again
possibly cheap for the machine owner. Still an abuse of pricing
though!

What we used to know as "refurbished" now seems to go by the term
"remanufactured". In other words, the thing went back to the
manufacturer (ideal) or service depot, where any worn or faulthy
parts were replaced with new items and the unit brought up to
essentially new operating condition--what we used to call
"refurbished".
I get really irritated when I see "refurbished" used in conjusction
with things such as SDRAM memory. What the heck was done?
Is "furbish"/"refurbish" one of those pairs where both words mean the
same thing. Both appear to mean "renovate" (which, strictly speaking
means "to make new again").

meant they wiped it off. I would rather take "tested" any day. You got
to know who really knew was real and be trusted. Only a small % really
tested parts.
Reminds me of the seller I saw at a radio rally (hamfest) about 20 years
ago. He had 2 piles of IDE hard drives. One plie were 'tested and
working' The other pile as 'untested'. Hmmm....
