The drives are HP drives which were OEMed by IBM, Tandem, Sun, Pyramid, etc.
They are high quality, reliable and readily available (at least here in
Silicon Valley). I own two of them - both being purchased with the last

Unfortunately, mine only support 1600 and 6250 bpi.
I'll keep my eyes open for the Qualstar - but I've never seen one available
I checked out all the drives at Weird Stuff and
none have the 800bpi
option.
If you dont insist on IBM, you should look for e.g. Qualstar 3412S.
Excellent drive. It supports for reading : 800, 1600, 3200 and 6250. For
writing : 1600, 3200 and 6250. Large diameter reels from any of the local dealers or scrappers.
