People used to also think newsgroups were "private" or "temporary"
until people pointed out that there's no reasonable expectation that
someone won't make a permanent archive of all messages ever posted to
a newsgroup.
If you don't want it "out there", then you shouldn't post it, not even
in private email, is the bottom line.
