If you ship via USPS Priority Mail, they'll give you a box for free and lend
you the pen to write the address on it. Since a cable isn't easy to break,
you won't be needing Sunday's paper for padding. Unfortunately, they don't
pick up, but they're both cheaper and faster than UPS.

Because unless you do daily shipping of packages, it is damned
expensive and inconvenient.
On that cable, USPS will run $3.50 or $4. Five bucks to find a
box/mailer, pack it, address it, and take it to the P.O., probably
equals about $2.50/hr wages for most of us.
Not to say that the $40 S&H I often see on 20lb systems is right or
reasonable....
