I've just had a good dig through the Farnell catalogue, which turned up a few
other connectors (specifically the Molex C-Grid III series) that cost half of
what the KKs cost.
Maplin seem to have a limited range of the KKs (or at least their equivalent)
cheaper than Farnell, but they're "special order only".
