bus, no jumpers, switches or SCSI address settings...
You know, I'd forgotten all about that after all these years!
The ST and the XE keyboards were horrific!!!
The XE keyboard was the single biggest reason I never bought one when they
came out.
I was lucky with my first ST (a 520STM+) in that it had a noticably bettter
keyboard than the later "FM" machines, but it was still pretty nasty. I hung
onto that particular machine until I got shot of all my ST gear in the mid
90's.
The Atari 1200XL had THE BEST keyboard for look, feel
and layout
of all of the Atari computers IMHO
I've never used a 1200XL (though I have a 1200XL main board somewhere) but
I've been told that the keyboard was very similar to the original 800XL
keyboard? Is this true?
