Well, yes, except that since that meme started, they've analyzed the
airstreams around the bumblebee with better precision and it turns out
there's a wee vortex over the back of the bee that makes all the
difference in overall lift.
Not predictable nor detectable with 19th Century methods, but there
none-the-less.
