I've not had the same problems with stripping or slipping
when using a good driver of the right size for the screw.
Most of the time I see people using a #1 philips where
they should be using a #2.
I also see many with cheap drivers that the tip has
obviously failed.

Something I'd like to see is a serious effort to get rid of phillips
screws. The damn things strip out easily, slip out easily, and require
considerable pushing. Hex screws are okay, but when they get tiny, they
too will strip easily. Square-head or torx would be best.
