In my experience the prices on US E-bay are a lot less than E-bay in
Europe so don't let him short you on the price.

I've sent a fairly strongly worded email to him demanding a refund, so I'll
see what happens next.
I'm sure they're special cables. If
they didn't need to be then HP would
have used IDC cables. I have NEVER seen a LA that used IDC cables and I
have a LOT of them. (Gould, Dolch, HP, Tektronix, Paratronics, etc, etc)
Drat.
Apparently the cabling for the data lines is nichrome. Whether that's
for mechanical, reliability or electrical reasons I have no idea.
