I think, if you leave it long enough, that you should get a MacOS
folder with a flashing question mark on it, if it's bootable.

If you download the minimal ISO and burn it to a CDR, you could see if
the machine booted... or install it onto any old small EIDE HD you
might have lying around. N.B. to install it, you'll need to be online
via a cabled connection.
