What's the write speed for an Arduino with an SD interface? It might
be more practical to build a "dumping appliance" that just spools the
tape onto an SD card that is read later.
Yeah, I think this would be the best approach. Then you can use the
connection back to the PC over USB to send status on the operation
instead of the raw data.
