Yeah, but did you think to open the 2200 uF cap inside? It probably
contained a 680uf cap, and so on, like Russian dolls.
More insidious than the much less than rated capacitance is the fact the
inner one is rated to 35V and the outer one is rated at 50V. So rather
than just having extra ripple in your power supply, you end up with a
blown cap.
