wouldn't, though, call my parts stock a "junk box"; that conjures
up images of a container with an unsorted mishmash of salvaged parts
all dumped in it together, and most of my parts are not salvaged
scrap and are not all jumbled together.

Then it's probably just as well that I took none. :)
I do have a junk box in something rather like the sense I sketched, but
it's a comparatively small fraction of my parts stock. Most of the
stuff I have that I would call a junk box is parts still in their
original circuits; the box is labeled "FIX OR STRIP FOR PARTS". I'm
not doing either at any significant rate. :(
