That's closer than you might think. More than one person has made
diodes and transistors at home, and one person I'm aware of has made a
functional integrated circuit. Granted, a very simple one, and she's
exceptional, but it is NOT impossible.
What, doesn't everyone have an ion implantation oven next
to their KitchenAid?
