Thanks, Eric.. The assistance & education I received from folks like Brent
and yourself was truly invaluable.
This wasn't my first board-level digital experience - I did successfully
repair two C-64s and one 1541 floppy drive in the last couple of weeks -
but it was certainly the most extensive and in-depth project to-date. I'm a
little embarrassed to say it, but I actually acquired this 'kit' almost ten
years ago, as of this writing. It spent most of the time just getting
stored & shuffled around - I'll admit to being (somewhat correctly)
intimidated by the project.
If I'd tried this back when I got it, I'm not sure the outcome would have
been as good. More or less chipped-away at it for the last couple years,
did all the PSU work (stuff I can do in my sleep) about a year ago. I'd
decided to spend a little more time on it early this month - decided to
pre-cut the wiring for the board. But then I found I'd already done it, so
cripes.. I guess I'd run out of prep-work and it's +time to get down to
work and do the job+.
Anyway, I need to sort out a few things yet. I'm sure there will be a few
more questions. But really, the SRAM board was the real missing piece of
the puzzle - and I'd like to know why the DRAM is non-functional.. is the
board bad, or is it just incompatible?
Oh hey, and why does Tony type like that? Does he talk that way in the
flesh?
