Downgrade rights are only granted with OEM versions of Windows 7
Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate. Downgrade rights do not apply to
other editions such as Windows 7 Home Premium. Downgrade rights do not
apply to any of the retail-packaged editions of Windows 7, even
Professional or Ultimate.
You still have to get a suitable license key for the older version of
Windows from Microsoft. Your Windows 7 license key will not work in an
older version of Windows.
If you use your downgrade right to use an older version of Windows, you
are not allowed to use the newer version of Windows "at the same time".
For example, if you are running Windows 7 on a machine, the downgrade
rights do not cover running an older version of Windows in a virtual
machine. (The use of Windows XP mode on Windows 7 is NOT part of the
downgrade rights.)
