Are you positive? Did you read this someplace?
That is what my local PO told me and what they allow. Why not? After
all, disks and tapes carry what can reasonably be described as textual
or informational material - at least in part.

Well, obviously the UK powers-that-be don't think like that. In general
in the UK, books/magazines/etc are not liable for VAT (sales tax) but
magnetic recordings certainly are, as are CDs and CD-ROMs. A book with an
included disk or CD-ROM will be liable for VAT on that disk or CD-ROM.
Yes, I do find this mildly crazy...
Well Tony, no one in their right mind ever thought that lawmakers and
taxes were likely to make sense!
