The get a set of cable adapters; no active internals, just one
keyboard connector wired to the opposite gender of the other. I've
used old AT keyboards on newer systems with mini-DIN keyboard jacks
and newer keyboards on older AT-era keyboards. The protocol is close
enough that it gives no problems.
I'll admit that I don't know what happens with the "Windows" key on a
5170, but I suspect it's ignored with or without a beep.
I can't remember if newer "PS/2" keyboards can be clocked faster than
the older "AT" ones, but I've never run into problems.
