IMHO these regualtions have absolutely nothinh to do with actually
protecting the environment, and everything to do with protecting big
company profits. They are designed ot ensur stuff fails i n short time
(e.g. by iunsisting o nthe sue of inferior solder) and then ensure it
doesn't get repaired.

Here's a relatively new twist- I just lost a very nice local
Unibus
system because the owner was worried about
"environmental
liability", and they wanted it properly scraped. I've seen this
several times now.
Is this the sort of thinking that RoHS engenders?
