Yeah. One of our three cats we rescued from a wood-pile, and was probably
the only one of her litter to survive (we caught another who didn't make
it, and the other three took off and doubtless got themselves shot,
poisoned, or eaten, assuming they didn't starve).
We've got three dogs, too. I couldn't possibly say which I thought of as
'better'. Our dogs are better companions - as Chuck says, they understand
body language and speech remarkably well. The cats don't do much other than
eat and sleep and wander around outside (they've never been lap-cats).
But, if anyone's going to get in trouble, it's the dogs... not often, but
once in a while a shoe gets chomped or a roll of toilet paper gets
shredded, and one of the trio is completely obsessed with socks.
(I've just got back from a 1st birthday party for our youngest pooch,
thrown by the folks we got her from. She's snoring by my feet right now.)
cheers
