I think at least one list member had problems even though the screens were
stored in a dry environment. I'm not sure that anyone's ever got to the
bottom of why it happens to some screens and not others :-(
There's no evidence that the problem is the result of mold, fungi, or
other living organisms. It is most likely chemical decomposition of
the material used to fill in between the tube and the safety shield.
It is probably just releasing some gas as a result of it
decomposition and creating bubbles in the material.
