?I don't think I've ever seen or heard of a broken one.
I've run across 2-3 over the past 25 years. They all had hard lives
but were still trivial to fix (cable/sensor/heater problems). I
didn't have to spend more than $20 in new parts to get any one of them
working. I haven't yet run across one with a problem in the base.
