My last cat was a female calico. It was years before I replaced all
of the outdoor railing posts and tops that she'd scratched to heck.
She hated tubas and would sneak into my practice room to urinate on
them. She loved to pick fights with raccoons (idiotic) and got
chewed up from time to time (vet bills). All in all, she was crazy.
The dogs keep me active and sleep through the night. Nice,
uncomplicated animals that recognize me as the pack leader instead of
just another toy who knows where the food is kept.
There was a time when her existence overlapped that of a couple of
golden retrievers here. One day I discovered that a mouse was in the
garage and chewing on things. I left here there for several hours
and she would do nothing other than watch the stupid rodent. I let
one of the dogs in and within 5 minutes the mouse was dog food.
