It's just on a messy workbench. If you look closely, you'll see that
the machine is fully assembled except for the end-stops and the extruder
head.

Yep. The electronics are frightening. The rest of it is respectable,
though. 
FYI, the #reprap channel on IRC is populated by a very
knowledgeable,
very nice bunch of folks.
