And, if someone does know of a system that is available that can do this,
I'd love to hear about it. I keep thinking this is a business opportunity
for someone, except for the fact that archives never have any money :-(
Now that I understand the problem better (thanks much for this explanation,
BTW), I think the better approach is to extend an existing open source
catalog system like CollectiveAccess. It would probably have to be
the work of one person to remain coherent. There isn't enough real
contributors in this community for us to pursue the "wisdom of crowds"
type development model.
