I'd prefer to ignore them completely too, but we all pay a price for
their colossal crime spree in various ways (including this specific
one). When they're gone, we can get back to advancing computing
instead of see it used as a launchpad for extortion.

Plenty of open hardware and open software out there, and people are
doing all sorts of creative things with it.
Yes, all this happens DESPITE the best efforts of this great criminal
toad that still squats over us, skimming here, FUDding there,
continually meditating on new ways of ripping the mainstream off and
lock people in. Criminal DNA to the core. Need to be knocked down to a
size where they are forced to actually compete (since they are incapable
of it, they won't last long in that state). The company will implode
sooner or later, as it has served its original purpose for Gates.
(I have a pile of PS/2 keyboards without Windows logos that I'd be happy
to donate to your cause, if it'll help...)
I must own about 60 keyboards and none of them has a Windows logo, but
