Fred (trying to get the !@#&*%@#$^ DECstation

Don't DECstations (aka MIPS machines) run Ultrix, not OSF/1?...
They did, and
do, and thats what I assumed was the end of it.
Until I hit some interesting documentation that spoke of the
system as "Ultrix/OSF", and some searches later, it turned
out that DEC started out with porting OSF/1 to their PMAX
systems (MIPS based boxes, aka DECstation/DECsystem) and
then adding a good deal of their Ultrix stuff onto it,
*probably* intended as a successor to Ultrix.
But, then came the Alpha, and they moved to just doing Alpha,
and that's pretty much what we came to know: OSF/1 on Alpha,
later Digital UNIX, later Tru64. Soon to be HPUX (no, dont
get me started on that one.. pleez..)
Several people helped me find that code, and I gathered a
load of those boxes to see which will and which wont run
it... :)
If anyone has OSF/1 stuff (anything before DU 4.0g) pse
contact me offlist.
I have DEC OSF1 source (not sure what vintage) if you want it
