Umm, no.
Yes... maybe not in your part of the country, but there are
certainly smaller stores around here worth shopping at.
Including one that sells only handmade solid-wood furniture. And a
traditional Italian bakery. Both within 5 minutes drive of my house.
Of course, they cost more. Of course I buy there.
Well, you've been here quite a bit; you know what I'm talking
about. There are *some* but nowhere near as many as there used to
be. Most people buy particle-board garbage at Wal*Mart and are
(inexplicably) perfectly happy when it falls apart in a year.
