You're confusing official policy with reality. Was Megaupload bad?
Well, Megaupload was run by Kim Schmitz (lately calling himself Kim
Dotcom). Anything _that_ guy touches is bad by definition. In the german
hacker scene, he made a name for himself:
 - always talking wildy
 - not knowing stuff
 - having an ego of gigantic proportions
 - trapping other hackers to sell them to laywers (there was a very
profitable cooperation going on with the Freiherr von Gravenreuth
   for a few years)
He was also found guilty of insider trading and embezzlement in 2002 and
is known as a con man.
Don't touch anything that guy is involved with with a ten foot pole.
I don't think so--but look what happened to them.
TPB has been the
target of massive government efforts to smash it.
At least those guys appear not to be a bunch of scammers and con men.
Perhaps I'm overly paranoid, but that doesn't
mean that they're not
 out to get me.
As they say: "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out
to get you!" ;-)
Kind regards,
            Alex.
