I too can imagine tortuous, paranoid thinking that might lead somebody
to act that way. Doesn't make it any less ridiculous :)

Well any company that would have that machine would be worried about selling
something (even for a few grand) that might cost them much more down the
road if not disposed of properly especially in states like CA. So some
places just pay to get it recycled at a place with a good paperwork trail.
