This may be rhetorical, but why did they use that PVA
material in the
first place, given that the solution provided in the video just places
the lens over the CRT glass with nothing but air in between?
I was wondering that too and I drew the conclusion that it must be
easier to mass produce or produce in an assembly line.
I have two ADM-3A terminals: One is severly rotting,
while the other
is in pristine condition. Go figure.
Why do some cases yellow and others don't? Its the history of the
machine and the environment in which it was kept that's probably the
deciding factor more than differences in manufacturing. Still, if you
switch tube suppliers then that would obviously make a difference.
Assuming tubes manufactured in the same way from the same supplier,
environment and history of the machine are the most likely
explanations. For instance, was the terminal kept in a machine room
or sitting on a desk near a window with direct sunlight? etc.
