My instincts are to use a little bit of wheel bearing grease, but I was
curious, because there was not much residue.
I just finished cleaning up 7 pairs of DEC rack slides and I didn't find
any sign of grease on any of them. I don't recall ever seeing grease on any
of the rack slides on any of the electronic equipment that I've worked on.
I'm not saying you can't use grease on them. I'm just saying that none of
the ones that I've seen ever had any on them. A lot of reack slides have
wheels on them with ball bearings in then and I think they are usually
greased. I'd check and see if those wheels are rotating freely.
