I mean, I like my machines to stay in good condition (hence me being
upset that CTS scuffed up my Octane), but I'd rather have a scuffed
machine in the collection than wait for the "pristine NIB" version
that costs 10x as much. When I make billions of dollars, I'll go for
the NIB version, although I don't see that happening at this point.

Sure sounds
like a collector to me, just a collector with different
goals.
In the UK, the somewhat perjorative term 'stamp collector' is used to
describe somebody who just wants to amass a certain type of object (such
as HP calculators) without ever using them, or understanding them, or...
