take this with a grain of salt - it was a long time ago.
I seem to recall, dimly, back in the day, that the original prototypes
had twiggy drives. I could swear I
saw one in Steve Capps or Ronnie Sebok's office at one point. I
remember having conversations with
someone who I think was the lead designer of the twiggy - they were
very proud of that design...
We were talking in detail about the design of the foam inside the
shipping box of the original mac's.
(because adding 5lb's extra to the weight of the mac caused it to fail
:-)
