the 220 doesn't have a backplane, but the 10x's do...
I thought that was just the VT103 that has a (16-bit?) Q-Bus backplane.
The other VT10x's have a backplane, but it probably doesn't have a
full Q-bus on it. The backplane does give you access to the keyboard
and the video signal, IIRC.
