Having spent my whole life considering floppy disks to
be extremely
fragile things to be handled with great delicacy I was astonished by the
experience below.

Don't you remember "verbatim datalife plus" which came with a spare
sleeve you could cut the sleeve of your disk, take the internal disk out,
insert in the sleeve and read (and use!) in the drive? :oD
