I agree that AoE is excellent, but I don't know about expensive;
maybe if you buy it new. It can usually be had for under $10
used from Amazon or elsewhere. You might get an older edition,
but it's not like ohms have changed. The rear 1/3 or so of the
book, which deals with various projects, ICs and all never held
my interest for long enough to read it, but the front 2/3 is
absolutely essential reading for anyone new to electronics.
