I had this similar problem too even with right shift

was add extra characters or like to end of that file like .gz, .hqx
to like .gz.goofy, .hqx.txt while saving as before beginning the
download. This is to block the dumb automatic things from taking
place and mash your precious file in the process.

The files that I want to download are the ".gz" files at:

Any suggestions as to how "goofy" or "txt" can be added
to the file names so that people like myself who have dumb
software link Windows 98/Netscape 4.78 can get them
downloaded correctly?
Obviously, Jay, I am actually speaking to you. Might it be
possible to set up a second link pointing to the same file
but one which ends in "txt" for those of us who have faulty
software? If you can do so, please send me an e-mail and
I can test it ASAP?
Since I was able to download successfully under Windows XP/
Internet Explorer (although the expansion did take place
automatically without my agreeing to the expansion - and the
result was a file IDENTICAL to the original full size image
for the ISO file), obviously there is nothing wrong with the
file on your site - it is the downloading software at my end -
another reason to dislike M$.
What I find to be really "interesting" is that when I run FC.EXE
under Windows 98 and compare the original image of the CD
file vs the faulty expansion from your ".gz" file, FC says they are
identical even though when I use RT-11 under Ersatz-11 to
compare the two files with BINCOM, the two files are NOT
identical!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now what is FC.EXE doing?????????
Sincerely yours,
