Then where are you going to get system power?
You can't draw it from the monitor connection.
You can't draw it from the keyboard or the mouse.
You can't draw it from RS-232.
Try using the the wall plug for power... Mind you I am not sure
one can run a cord out of a box any more, with all the legal stuff
nowadays.
