I suspect that someone, way back when, was afraid
of it and said
"it's to haaaard" and people have been propagating that rumor ever since.
The electronics hobbyist magazines of the 1980s, especially in their
TV service columns, did not help the matter.
Funny thing is that some of those same people moaned and griped when
those fancy new printed circuit boards were coming out in the 1950s.
