Yeah, but the engineering nickname for the first voice-coil drive was
30/30 because there were two platters, 30MB each. someone called it the
Winchester, and the name stuck - however, the first IBM Winchester might
have been the 3340.
... and the name may also have something to do with the device
being
developed at IBM's Hursley laboratory which is just outside Winchester in
England.
