What happens when you
press <Ctrl>-<Esc>?
Don't you hate rhetorical questions?
No, I like 'em.
But for the record, the Windows key - or in Linux circles, where it's
finally getting used these days by Ubuntu Unity, GNOME 3 Shell and
indeed Crunchbang Linux, the "super key" as it's called - does /not/
equate to Ctrl-Esc.
I suspect you can configure pretty much whatever you want via kernel
keymaps for the console ('man loadkeys') - e.g. I had my laptop set to
generate UK pound symbols when one of the 'windows' keys was pressed in
combination with the 3 key (pound would be shift-3 on a real UK keyboard,
but that's hash on a US one).
IIRC the definitions worked happily under X, too, not just in 'text mode'
console sessions - but I suppose certain window managers might be intrusive
and redefine them without letting the user pick and choose.
