Not sure of what needs HP. But the computing scene (and the Whole World,
perhaps) needs a serious company with one leg in the tradition and the other
in more modern concepts, covering diverse segments of market and segmented
itself, being a serious competitor and complementary at the same time of
IBM, with capacity to put a rope around of Microsoft and Oracle, and being
an alternative way for the Open Source community.
I consider HP as the company which can be complaint with this points.
Potentially, of course. The problem are the humans in the middle :-)
